My go to Travel Breakfast Recipe

Updated: Nov 14, 2020

For many of those long, tiring travel days full of touring new exciting places and the battle of jetlag, you need an easy energy-boosting breakfast to get your day started on the right foot. Not to mention save your money from buying that 20 euro brunch. (Which after some late nights in Spain is necessary, let me tell you!) This breakfast is super simple and easy to pack in any carry-on, purse, backpack for on the go or to indulge in at home.

My favorite breakfast overnight oatmeal bowl is based on one of my favorite Victoria Secret Models Romee Strijd's recipe. Packed with protein, superfoods, fresh fruits, and nut butter. In the morning this breakfast will make you want to hop out the bed running!

Take me to the Ingredients!

For the overnight oatmeal base:

- 1 tablespoonful of chocolate protein powder (I prefer to use a vegan protein over whey.)

- 40g oats (Instant Oatmeal Packets for on the go.)

- 1 cup of hot water

- Dash of cinnamon

For the toppings:

- Mix of chia, hemp, and flax seeds

- Spoonful of Nut butter: For Peanut butter (North Shore Goodies Coconut Peanut Butter), Otherwise Nutz n' Zo makes delicious mixed nut butter packets to go (essential)

- Sprinkle of easily pack-able trail mix: mulberries, goji berries, cashew, Brazil, and almond nuts (optional)

- About 1/3 cup of any fresh fruit: Apple, blueberries, strawberries, raspberries (Get creative! Raid your local hotel front desk.)

Directions (from Romee) I follow:

"Before I go to bed, I mix a scoop of chocolate protein powder and 40g oats or oatmeal in a bowl, with a cup of hot water and leave it in the fridge. I like it quite thick, so I don’t put too much water in it, but you can use it as much as you like. In the morning, I add the toppings: a tablespoon of goji berries, a mulberry, a cashew nut, and a raisin trail mix that I like, and a handful of almonds that I take from the freezer, as I like them super crunchy. I take a scoop out of one side for the peanut butter and top it all with fresh fruit. I like to chill out on the couch with my coffee and my breakfast.”
